Azerbaijan starts supplying salt to Syria

In 2024, Azerbaijan exported 28,057 tons of salt (food grade, iodized) worth $3.1 million, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistics Committee.
According to committee, this is 2 times more in value terms and 2.6 times more in quantity than in 2023.
In 2024, Azerbaijan sold 18,130 tons (+4 times YoY) of salt worth $1.5 million to Russia (3.8 times more), 8,529 tons (+40.5%) worth $1.4 million to Georgia, 1,279 tons (+13 times) worth $104,000 to Kazakhstan, 97 tons (-24%) worth $9,100 to Ukraine (-40%), and 8.7 tons worth $2,600 to Syria.
Last year, for the first time in 13 years (official statistics on foreign trade in public use date back to 2011), supplies were made to Syria.
Of the 10,793 tons of salt exported from Azerbaijan to 6 countries in 2023, 56.2% went to Georgia and 41.6% to Russia.
