Azerbaijan’s sugar exports up over 46%

In January-August of 2024, Azerbaijan imported sugar and sugar confectionery worth $180.756 million, marking an 3.5% increase from the same period of 2023, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan also exported sugar and sugar confectionery made from it worth $25.6 million, 46.4% more than a year ago.

Import of sugar and sugar confectionery made up 1.42% of the total imports of Azerbaijan, while exports made up 0.14% of the total exports.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan conducted trade transactions with foreign countries worth just over $30.995 billion. Of that, $18.232 billion accounted for exports and just over $12.764 billion fell to imports. Over the past year, exports decreased by 25.1%, while imports increased by 14.5%.
