Azerbaijan's rice imports from Thailand skyrocket

In January-March 2025, Azerbaijan imported 17,559 tons of rice worth $17 million, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
This is 16% less in value and 7% less in quantity than the same period in 2024.
During the mentioned period, Azerbaijan purchased 12,875 tons (-11%) of rice worth $13.4 million (-18%) from India, 2,846 tons (there were no supplies a year ago) worth $2 million from Kazakhstan, 930 tons (+6%) worth $764,000 (+2%) from Pakistan, 397 tons (-31%) worth $262,000 (-26%) from Türkiye, and 252 tons (+130 times) worth $194,000 (+65 times).
Seventy per cent of the 64,306 tons of rice imported to Azerbaijan in 2024 were purchased from India.
