Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry is gearing up for a series of high-profile events and meetings within the COP29, held in Baku, Report informs, citing the ministry.
On November 13, the Ministry will host a High-Level Session in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, titled "The Power of Cooperation: Uniting Forces for Net Zero."
The following day, November 14, will see the launch of the Baku Initiative on Climate Finance, Investment, and Trade (BICFIT) during the Climate FIT Day, jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Also, the ministry will host various events under the Business, Investment, and Philanthropy Climate Platform, and discussions will be conducted on climate finance and strategic partnerships. The Climate Finance Action Fund (CFAF) will be introduced during a session titled "Strengthening the Sustainable Future: Boosting Green Development through Finance."
Regional cooperation will be a key focus, with ministerial meetings planned for the CAREC Partnership on Climate, Innovation, and Trade; the Organization of Turkic States' Partnership on Climate, Innovation, Green Economy, and Trade; and the SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue.
On November 15 - Energy, Peace, Relief, and Recovery Day, the ministry will launch the Green Growth portal, developed in collaboration with Harvard University's Growth Lab. Moreover, events themed “Carbon Pricing: Current Challenges and New Strategies”, and “Developing sustainable finance and climate resilience strategies through public-private partnership projects and the role of the private sector in addressing climate change,” will be held.
On November 16 - Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digitalization Day, a conference themed "The Role of SMEs in the Green Economy" as well as other events themed "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence: A New Era of Governance in the Digital Economy with Technological Foresight", "The Transformative Power of Artificial Intelligence: Reducing Environmental Impacts and Sustainable Development" will be held.
On November 20, the Urbanization, Transport, and Tourism Day, a roundtable of AIIB green city program leaders from the SPECA region, and a briefing on the SPECA Multilateral Trust Fund are scheduled.
The Ministry of Economy and its affiliated agencies also plan to sign agreements with the Islamic Development Bank, the International Trade Centre, and several foreign companies during COP29.
Additionally, the Ministry will hold meetings with officials from international organizations and other countries to strengthen cooperation in the fight against climate change.
