Azerbaijan resumes sand imports from 2 countries

In the first 11 months of 2022, Azerbaijan imported 76,776 tons of sand (siliceous, quartz, natural and other types) for $5.412 million, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, the sand import went up by 28.2% in quantitative terms and by 64% in value terms compared to the same period in 2021.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 73,274 tons (+28%) of sand from Russia for $4.324 million (+60%), 2,019 tons (+59%) from Turkiye for $520,310 (+ 2.3 times), 1,810 tons (+49%) from Iran for $334,150 (+69%), 59.12 tons (+35%) from Italy for $277,570 (+2.5 times), 16.1 tons from the UK for $70,810.

After a break of 1 year and nine months, deliveries from Sweden resumed, and after a year and a month - from the UK. Azerbaijan imported 6.13 tons of sand from Sweden for $24,600.
