Azerbaijan joins mentoring program on consumer rights

The State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Supervision under the Azerbaijani President has joined the Mentoring Program of the International Consumer Rights Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN).

Report informs, citing the agency, that the program aims to ensure the exchange of experience between members and partners of the organization and facilitate inter-agency communication.

Within the framework of the Mentoring Program, the first online seminar on “Complaints received in the field of consumer rights protection” was organized with the participation of representatives of the state agency and the Directorate General for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance under the Turkish Ministry of Trade. The seminar featured presentations on the current experience and activities of both institutions in the field of consumer rights protection, and an exchange of views on the prospects for mutual cooperation. It was noted that strengthening cooperation between regulatory authorities for the protection of consumer rights will create conditions for more effective protection of consumer rights and sharing of best practices in this field.

Three more webinars and two working trips are planned within the Mentoring Program. The working trips will cover topics such as cooperation between regulatory authorities for the protection of consumer rights, public-private partnerships in the relevant field, methods of consumer market research, and tools for controlling advertising activities.

Azerbaijan has been a member of ICPEN since 2006 with the state agency representing the country in the organization.
