Azerbaijan begins silkworm cocoon exports to Uzbekistan

In 2024, Azerbaijan exported 29.85 tons of silkworm cocoons (suitable for unwinding) worth $339,500, marking a year-on-year increase of 2.1-fold and 2-fold, respectively, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan sold 18.7 tons (+33%) of silkworm cocoons to China worth $205,800 (+22%), and 11.1 tons to Uzbekistan worth $133,700.
Last year, for the first time in the last 13 years (note: official statistics on foreign trade available for public use go back to 2011), supplies were made to Uzbekistan.
In 2024, these supplies were made to Uzbekistan from Azerbaijan for the first time in 13 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.
