Azerbaijan begins importing sunflower seeds from UAE

In January 2025, Azerbaijan imported 391.8 tons of sunflower seeds, valued at $731,250, marking an 87% increase in volume and a 2.3 times surge in value year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

During the month, Azerbaijan purchased sunflower seeds from:

-China: 211 tons (+10 times) worth $402,500 (+10 times);

-Türkiye: 176.5 tons (+2.7 times) worth $314,700 (+2.6 times);

- The United Arab Emirates (UAE): 4.25 tons worth $14,000;

- Germany: 0.01 tons worth $40 (no supplies a year ago).

In 2025, Azerbaijan imported sunflower seeds from the UAE for the first time in 14 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.
