Guinea-Bissau starting to establish co-op with Azerbaijan in key economic sectors - EXCLUSIVE

Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau will sign a memorandum of understanding in agriculture today, Minister of Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Action of Guinea-Bissau Viriato Luis Soares Cassama said on the sidelines of the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Forum, according to Report.

He noted that the government of Guinea-Bissau is beginning to establish cooperation with the government of Azerbaijan.

“In December, I visited Baku together with the foreign minister of Guinea-Bissau and the heads of key ministries responsible for strategic sectors of the economy,” the minister said. “We began to work out areas of cooperation in the fields of oil and gas production, agriculture, climate change and environmental protection. All these processes are in an active stage.”

He noted that as part of the visit to Azerbaijan today, it is planned to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture of the country.

Cassama also noted that a joint working group has been formed to deal with issues of interaction in the upstream sphere between Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau.

“We expect that by the end of this year we will be able to begin implementing the agreements on which active work is already underway,” he added.
