"The planning of agricultural activities in the liberated areas will especially focus on establishing agrarian processing enterprises," Deputy Agriculture Minister Ilhama Gadimova told a Baku-based conference on "The role of female entrepreneurship in the economic development of Karabakh and East Zangazur", Report informs.
She noted that this is important both for better food security of the country and employment in the liberated areas: “In June last year, bee-keeping and sheep farming were transferred to Kalbajar and Lachin pastures through the Ministry of Agriculture for the first time. Women were also engaged in these economic activities. In particular, women took an active part in the process of honey filtration, sheep milking, primary processing, and the Ministry of Agriculture provided all possible assistance for them to enter the areas where the special regime is applied for economic activities.”
The deputy minister stressed that the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions have high potential in various fields of agriculture: "As soon as the lands were liberated, work has begun to identify potential planting sites, mine clearing, and planting them: Autumn and spring sowing has been carried out in the appropriate areas. One of our main tasks is to make maximum use of the agricultural potential of the region.”
