Azerbaijan starts exporting tobacco to UAE

In January-August 2024, Azerbaijan exported 5,148 tons of tobacco worth $15.74 million, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

This is 4.8 times higher in value terms and 3.6 times higher in quantity compared to the same period in 2023.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported1,327 tons of tobacco to Italy for $4.11 million (no supply a year ago), 1,179 tons (+6.1 times) to Bulgaria for $3.62 million (+7 times), 505.52 tons to the United Arab Emirates for $2.3 million, 657 tons (+33 times) to Greece for $1.88 million (+22 times), and 614 tons (-37%) to Russia for $1.2 million (-30%).

This year marks the first time in the last 13 years (note: official statistics on foreign trade available for public use is avalaible since 2011) that tobacco supplies have been made to the UAE.
