Azerbaijan seeks to expand pomegranate export market

The Association of Pomegranate Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan is striving to introduce Azerbaijani pomegranates to new markets and diversify their exports, Farhad Garashov, the chairman of the association, told Report.

According to Garashov, negotiations are ongoing with potential markets, primarily with the Gulf countries. Representatives from Kuwait and several large foreign companies visiting Azerbaijan have been engaged in discussions.

"We are doing our best to ensure that exports to these countries begin in the coming years," he stated.

In addition to the Gulf region, the association is also working towards obtaining the necessary certifications to export pomegranates to European countries.

"Simultaneously, we are trying to establish exports to China. However, this requires an intergovernmental agreement between the countries," Garashov explained. Currently, only pomegranate juice is being exported to China.
