Azerbaijan resumes cattle imports from Italy

Azerbaijan imported 3,589 units of cattle for $12.1 million in January-May 2023.

According to Report’s calculations based on the data of the State Statistics Committee, compared to the same period last year, imports increased 91% in terms of value, and 69% in quantitative terms.

During the reporting period, the country imported 2,000 units of cattle (no imports were made last year) for $6.7 million from Uruguay, 311 units (imports were restored after one year and two months) for $1.1 million from Denmark, 296 units (-52%) for $989,800 (-50%) from Estonia, 285 units (-32%) for $905,000 (-23%) from Germany, 189 units (-56%) for $635,300 from Hungary.

Azerbaijan imported cattle from Italy (144 units worth $487,100) for the first time in 12 years (official statistics on foreign trade in open access since 2011).

Some 40.6% of the 7,881 tons of cattle brought to Azerbaijan from 10 countries last year were purchased from Uruguay, 15% from Estonia, 13.7% from Austria, and 11.5% from Türkiye.
