Azerbaijan increases purchase of sunflower seeds from Russia almost 300-fold

In the first two months of this year, 674.1 tons of sunflower seeds (+7.2%) worth $838,000 (-20%) were brought to Azerbaijan from abroad, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan received 250.5 tons (+22%) worth $462,120 (+40%) from Türkiye, 321.11 tons (+297.3 times) worth $224,800 (+48 times) from Russia, 60 tons (-83.1%) worth $87,000 (-86.7%) from China, 38.1 tons worth $55,200 from Egypt (first delivery), 4.4 tons worth $8,400 from Iran (there was no supply a year ago).

Of the 4,197 tons of sunflower seeds imported to Azerbaijan (from 12 countries) in 2022, China accounted for 41%, Türkiye for 31.4%, and Russia for 23.5%.
