In 2024, the volume of honey production in Azerbaijan increased by 13.5% compared to 2023, exceeding 5,166 tons, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
This production was achieved thanks to 579,000 bee colonies spread across 30,601 farms.
Despite this growth, the number of bee colonies decreased by 3.1% last year. This decline, along with a reduction in the production of certain beekeeping products, was mainly attributed to bee diseases.
In 2024, beeswax production in Azerbaijan decreased by 23.5% to 132.1 tons, propolis production fell by 43% to 8.5 tons, and royal jelly production declined by 14.9% to 239.3 kg. The average number of bee colonies per beekeeping farm also decreased by 2.4%.
