Azerbaijan begins egg exports to US

Azerbaijan has initiated the export of eggs to the United States, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Poultry Meat, Egg Producers and Exporters Association.

In response to egg shortages and price increases in the USA caused by last year’s bird flu outbreak, the US government has approved egg imports from foreign countries to mitigate the situation.

Gilazi Poultry, one of Azerbaijan’s leading poultry farms, has met US certification standards and obtained permission to export eggs to the US. Starting this month, the company will commence regular egg shipments to the US.

This new export venture is not expected to affect egg supply and prices within Azerbaijan. The daily demand for eggs in Azerbaijan is approximately 4 million, while production stands at around 6 million. Despite a portion of this production being exported, the country retains more than enough to satisfy domestic demand, with up to 100 million eggs currently stored in warehouses.
