Tourist flow to Azerbaijan up by about 40%

In January-March 2024, 513,500 foreigners and stateless persons from 171 countries traveled to Azerbaijan, 39.2% more than in the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Some 28.7% of tourists came from Russia, 19.3% from Türkiye, 10.3% from Iran, 7.2% from India, 4.8% from Georgia, 3.2% from Kazakhstan, 2.4% from Saudi Arabia, 2.4% from Pakistan, 2.1% from the UAE, 1.8% from Uzbekistan, 1.5% from each of Turkmenistan and Kuwait, 1.4% from Ukraine, 1.2% from Belarus, and 12.2% from other countries.
Compared to last year, the number of tourists from the CIS countries increased by 31% to 198,300 people, from the European Union member states - by 1.6-fold to 18,600 people, and from the Gulf countries - by 1.5-fold to 91,400 people.
Some 67.6% of foreigners and stateless persons who traveled to Azerbaijan used air, 30.9% used rail and cars, and 1.5% used sea.
