Azerbaijan's measures and strategic approaches in the development of sustainable tourism were showcased at the annual summit of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) held in Istanbul, Türkiye, Report informs, citing the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan.
The agency and Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) represented the country at the summit held on April 21-23.
At the event themed "Eternal Wisdom for a Sustainable Future," government officials, representatives of international organizations, and tourism experts discussed the role of sustainability as a key direction in the future development of global tourism.
Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the ATB, spoke at the intergovernmental session on the transformation of management and policy mechanisms in tourism, innovative regulatory approaches, and principles of sustainable development.
During meetings with international partners within the framework of the event, Azerbaijan's position on the development of environmentally responsible tourism products, preservation of cultural heritage, and community-based tourism initiatives was presented.
