Azerbaijan's hotel industry posts 25% growth in demand

Azerbaijan's hotels and hospitality facilities experienced a significant surge in demand, with a staggering 4,282,800 accommodations registered in 2024. This impressive figure represents a substantial 25.1% increase compared to the previous year.
Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee, that Baku emerged as the most sought-after location, accounting for 60.9% of all overnight stays. Among the districts, Khachmaz (4.6%), Naftalan (4.5%), Gusar (4.5%), and Gabala (4.2%) also proved to be popular choices for visitors.
The influx of foreign tourists played a crucial role in driving this growth, with accommodations by international guests increasing by 26% to reach 2,348,000. This segment represented 54.8% of the total accommodations. Notably, India emerged as the top source market, contributing 19.6% of foreign accommodations, followed by Russia (13.1%), Saudi Arabia (7.8%), Türkiye (7.3%), the United Arab Emirates (5.9%), and the United States (3.8%).
Domestic tourism also witnessed a significant upswing, with Azerbaijani citizens utilizing hotel rooms 1,934,800 times, marking a 24.2% increase compared to 2023. This segment accounted for 45.2% of the total accommodations.
