Tenacity, perseverance and talent made it possible to become a representative at the Eurovision 2024 song contest this year, singer Fakhri Ismayilov (Fahree) said in the new episode of the "Shall We Talk?" show with journalist Hamid Hamidov.
"Last year I wrote a song, but I didn’t feel ready. I had a year, I set a goal for myself that in a year I should work as much as possible on my own development, that I would confidently go and apply for the qualifying round. My goal was to demonstrate my talent and perseverance to the maximum," he said.
The singer noted that participation in the qualifying round is announced on television and on social networks: "You send your name, your surname and young song. The song must already be recorded. Its demo version should at least be ready."
Fahree emphasized that when he learned that he was selected to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision, first he couldn't believe it.
"I was invited to a TV program. When I came, they told me: 'Fakhri, sit here for just five minutes and we will now bring you an agreement that you allow us to use your song on air," he said. "All of a sudden, they brought me a piece of paper which says that I will represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision and they ask me to sign that I give my consent. I just threw the piece of paper away, not understanding what was going on."
