Religious leaders can make a significant contribution to combating climate change, UN Alliance of Civilizations High Representative Miguel Angel Moratinos said on November 5 at the Baku Global Summit of Religious Leaders, Report informs.
"Climate change is one of the most urgent among many global challenges. The government of Azerbaijan, which is hosting COP29, perfectly understands that countries cannot tackle this problem alone. Therefore, the summit of religious leaders is organized at the perfect time," Moratinos noted.
He added that religious leaders have a unique human-centric approach to the climate problem.
He emphasized that the 'human aspect' unfortunately often remains unnoticed in global discussions.
Religious figures, unlike politicians, focus on moral values such as compassion, justice, and human dignity, he added.
