Leaders of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan appealed to world religious leaders, international organizations, parliaments and the world community in connection with the Khojaly genocide.
According to Report, they said in their appeal that the Khojaly genocide is the most terrible war crime committed against the peaceful Azerbaijani population during Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan.
The appeal states that the lack of timely legal and political assessment of cases of mass violence, extremism and terrorist crimes committed across the world are the cause of such dangerous tendencies as double standards, religious and racial discrimination:
"The Azerbaijani people will never forget the Khojaly tragedy. For many years, targeted work has been carried out to convey our realities to the world community and inform about the Khojaly genocide, and since 2008, this work has acquired a wide scope thanks to the international campaign 'Justice for Khojaly.' The massacre committed in Khojaly has been recognized as genocide by a number of countries and international organizations, and the tragedy has been given an international political assessment. We call on the entire progressive public not to remain indifferent to the Khojaly genocide and to call those guilty of this terrible tragedy to account and bring them to justice."
