When forming international policy, it is necessary to listen to the voices of religious circles and take them into account, President of the G20 Interfaith Forum Cole Durham said at the international conference "Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges" held in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that it is an honor for him to participate in this conference.
“Many people think that the G-20 platform is only about economics. But in fact, over the past 10 years, we have been working with a much broader focus than just economics. We focus our activities on achieving sustainable development goals, on issues related to religion and discrimination,” he said, adding that the G20 had already held webinars on the topic of combating discrimination, in particular against the Chinese and other peoples.
Cole Durham emphasized that the purpose of this conference is to properly assess the situation with Islamophobia in order to determine how to deal with it.
“This year, we [G-20] have focused on building peace, recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and more,” he concluded.
