Zakharova: Simonyan's statements on 'hybrid war' - round of aggressive language causing bewilderment
Maria Zakharova

The accusations of Moscow waging a "hybrid war", voiced by the speaker of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan, are another round of aggressive language that simply causes bewilderment, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in response to a corresponding question from a News.ru journalist, Report informs.

"What kind of hybrid war against the Armenian leadership can we talk about if it is presented here at events? The Russian Federation and Armenia hold regular contacts at the highest level and through the Foreign Ministry. We only talk about interaction and cooperation... Something there, it seems to me, does not fit with the position of the speaker of the Armenian parliament you mentioned. I cannot imagine a situation in which what he said, at someone's instigation or himself, could actually happen. I say again, if at least someone had bothered to provide some facts, but this is no longer possible. This is some kind of practice of the Western Brussels manual," Zakharova noted.

On May 5, Simonyan, assessing the domestic political situation in Armenia, said that a "hybrid war" was conducted against his country, on which large amounts of money are being spent from outside. He essentially accused Russia of this, which is allegedly "trying to change" the government in Armenia. Simonyan made this statement immediately after he received Russian Ambassador Sergei Kopyrkin.
