Ukraine is working with Russia on a large-scale exchange of the bodies of fallen soldiers under a "6000 for 6000" framework, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said on social media.
Report informs via Ukrainian media that Umerov said the first stage of a major prisoner exchange between the two countries had taken place earlier today.
Umerov said the agreements reached in Istanbul include phased repatriation of specific categories of prisoners of war—those who are severely wounded, seriously ill, or young servicemen under the age of 25.
He emphasized that the exchange process will continue in the coming days.
"Ukraine works every day to make the 'all for all' exchange formula a reality," Umerov stated.
