Ukraine to cancel military conscription from January 2024

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree that provides for the termination of the conscription of the country's citizens from January 1, 2024, Report informs, citing UNIAN.
The Ukrainian leader instructed to prepare a bill on a phased increase in the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from 2022 to 2025 by 100,000 people to beef up the defense capabilities of the state.
Another bill should relate to amending the law on the state budget for 2022 on financing for a gradual increase in the financial support of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (to a level of at least three minimum wages).
The Defense Ministry was instructed to develop a concept for a gradual transition to the formation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a professional basis, taking into account the increase in the duration of contracts, the formation of a system of special training and retraining of military personnel who have signed long-term contracts.
