Ukraine bans flights to Russia

The government of Ukraine has banned the irregular flights to Russia following the visits of presidential candidate Yuriy Boyko and the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk.

Report informs citing the TASS that a similar decision was made on the initiative of the Ukraine Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The head of department, Arsen Avakov, said that they had previously “taken advantage of a loophole in the Ukrainian legislation", and carried out a direct flight to Moscow.

He said that the ministry had initiated amending the use of airspace to "make it impossible for irregular flights between Ukraine and the aggressor country."

Meanwhile, the minister said that this ban would not be applied to possible flights of missions of international organizations such as the OSCE, the UN and the Red Cross.
