Türkiye supports transitional government in Syria, ex-FM says

"A new era has begun in Syria. I am optimistic in this sense, but of course, we must also be cautious," said Türkiye's Former Foreign Minister, MP Mevlut Cavusoglu, at the 12th Global Baku Forum, Report informs.

Cavusoglu underscored that Türkiye does not withhold its support to prevent the transitional government in Syria from going into the abyss.

"I think Erdogan is the number one person in maintaining relations with everyone in regional politics," he added. The MP noted that approximately 60 percent of the world's crises occur around Türkiye, in nearby territories.

Cavusoglu criticized the global system for its incompetence in solving these issues.

"Therefore, Türkiye is doing its best to solve these problems. For example, we have repeatedly taken initiatives to bring the presidents of Russia and Ukraine together in Ankara. But the necessary support from the West has not been forthcoming for this purpose," he stated.
