Türkiye's gas throughput capacity to reach 150 bcm by 2028

Türkiye's infrastructure will have a natural gas throughput of 150 billion cubic meters per year by 2028, taking into account the construction of a gas hub and production in the Black Sea, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar said, Report reports via Star newspaper.
“By 2028, Türkiye’s annual throughput capacity will be 150 billion cubic meters of gas. This will happen together with investments in natural gas infrastructure and the start of Türkiye’s full-fledged gas production in the Black Sea,” the Star newspaper quotes the minister. Thus, Bayraktar commented on the prospects for the construction of a gas hub in the Trakia region in the European part of the country. He pointed out that there would be a physical gas hub in Trakia. At the same time, in Istanbul, in the business district of Atasehir, it is planned to create an exchange for trading energy resources, ore, metals, as well as gas.
“As for Atasehir, gas will be traded there, in this center. And the Istanbul gas index will probably be created, that is, a reference price will be formed. But the goal of our president is to create a full-fledged commodity and raw materials exchange there with its pricing index," Bayraktar explained. He said that the republic already has “infrastructure that allows it to receive raw materials from dozens of countries.” According to him, it will develop further. The Turkish authorities also “plan to increase the volume of gas storage facilities, the minister said.
Bayraktar recalled that Türkiye had previously signed gas supply agreements with Hungary and Bulgaria, and soon the authorities will announce another contract. He also drew attention to the fact that Iran can work more actively with Türkiye in the field of gas and oil supplies.
