Turkish President: Negotiations with Greek Prime Minister may be held at NATO summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis may hold talks during the NATO summit in Vilnius, Report informs via Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish leader told reporters during his first trip abroad after re-election to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Azerbaijan that Mitsotakis called him after the May elections in Türkiye and congratulated him on his victory.

“In Vilnius, of course, we will be ready to hold a meeting [with Mitsotakis]. The main thing is that there should be a clear position of Athens, and no contradictory statements should be made. Türkiye seeks to strengthen friendship, not aggravate enmity in the region. My words during the probable meeting are well known: ‘Dear Prime Minister [of Greece]. Stop the arms race that leads nowhere. The United States does not stop supplying you with weapons. Why are you buying so many? Is it because it's for free or the American side does not require payment from you?’ This is what we will discuss. Türkiye is ready to eliminate any enmity. Such is modern Türkiye, such is Erdogan!” the president said.
