Turkey inaugurates Canakkale 1915 bridge

As part of the events dedicated to the 107th anniversary of the historic victory in the battle of Canakkale, Turkey has inaugurated the Canakkale-1915 bridge, according to Report's Turkish bureau, the opening ceremony along with Turkish officials was attended by foreign guests, including South Korean Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom.
Azerbaijan was represented at the ceremony by Ambassador to Turkey Rashad Mammadov.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that over 5,000 people took part in the construction of the bridge, the foundation of which was laid four years ago and was completed a year ahead of schedule.
Thus, the official opening of the bridge took place.
The new bridge, which has been under construction since March 18, 2017, has the longest central span in the world - 2,023 m. The total length of the six-lane (three in each direction) suspension bridge over the Dardanelles reaches 4,608 m. Many transport companies in Turkey and Europe will be able to lay their routes through the new bridge. It shortens the average land route from the border with Greece and Bulgaria to a number of agricultural and industrial regions of Turkey by at least 200-300 km.
