Ski resort in Georgia hit by avalanche

An avalanche occurred at the Bakuriani ski resort, covering one person, according to the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Report informs via TASS.

"Fire rescuers and representatives of the relevant units of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were mobilized in the village of Bakuriani, Borjomi municipality, where an avalanche came down from the slope. According to existing information, the avalanche allegedly covered one person," the statement says.

Rescuers from the main department for responding to special situations are participating in the search and rescue operation. A border police helicopter also took off from Tbilisi.
