Russia approves Nicolas de Riviere's candidacy for French ambassador

Moscow has approved the candidacy of former French Permanent Representative to the UN Nicolas de Rivière for the position of new French Ambassador to Russia, notified Paris of its decision, and issued him an entry visa, the Russian Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti, according to Report.
"After careful consideration of this request (from Paris), a decision was made to approve the presented candidacy, of which the French side was notified through diplomatic channels," the foreign ministry noted.
Nicolas de Rivière has now completed his work in New York and received an entry visa to arrive in the Russian Federation. Since August 2024, the French diplomatic mission in Moscow has been headed by the Chargé d'Affaires of France in Russia, Zacharie Gross.
