Putin signs law on raising draft age ceiling to 30 years

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on raising the maximum draft age from 27 to 30 without a transition period, Report informs via Russian media.
The law will enter into force on January 1, 2024.
Amendments will be made to the federal laws "On military duty and military service" and "On alternative civilian service."
Under the new law, the conscription age ceiling is raised from 27 to 30. Now, men aged 18 to 30 years may be enlisted. Starting January 1, 2024, all citizens of this age category will need to register with the military registration and enlistment office in order not to be considered a draft evader, and also not to receive a fine of 200,000 rubles. or in the amount of salary for a period of up to 18 months.
Initially, it was planned to amend the military age to “21 to 30 years,” as well as introduce a transitional period, but these two points were excluded in the second reading of the bill.
