Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov apologized for the post of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the Serbian delegation's visit to Washington. Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic said on the national television, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.
"President Putin never apologized to me for anything, and neither did Sergei Lavrov. And because of this (Zakharova's post), both did it. Moreover, I did not even recall, and, as a well-mannered person, I would never have mentioned this. I believe that we have good relations, and this is a passing and unimportant incident for me," stressed the President of Serbia.
Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed RIA Novosti that the Russian president has apologized to his Serbian counterpart.
Earlier, a Serbian delegation led by Vucic arrived in the United States. A photograph circulated in the media in which the Serbian president sits in a chair across US President Donald Trump.
In her Facebook, Zakharova commented on the photo, attaching a frame from the movie "Basic Instinct." Serbia condemned the publication.
