Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has called Moscow's mediation in the issue of unblocking communications with Azerbaijan impossible.

The Armenian prime minister made the remark on August 31 at a press conference, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

"How do you imagine that, for example, in the issue of opening regional communications, a country that accuses Armenia of sabotaging this issue would act as a mediator? An institution that made such a statement puts itself outside all possible mediations. Where have you seen a mediator make an accusation, and an unfounded one at that, and then we would sit together and discuss this issue?" Pashinyan said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Yerevan was sabotaging the agreement on unblocking communications in the Syunik region of Armenia, which implies a connection between the western regions of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan.

The head of the Armenian government also stated that Armenia doesn't intend to withdraw its signature from the joint trilateral statement of November 2020, which was signed with him by the presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Russia Vladimir Putin. In particular, it also speaks about the commitments to unblock all communications in the region.
