Pashinyan says abolition of 'Nagorno-Karabakh' was inevitable

The abolition of 'Nagorno-Karabakh' was inevitable, and Yerevan was spending all its resources on creating the 'Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,' which was an impossible task, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said, Report informs via RIA Novosti.

"They say that the current authorities of 'Nagorno-Karabakh' at that time (autumn 2023 - ed.) abolished 'Nagorno-Karabakh'. But in fact, this process became inevitable as a result of substantive changes in the negotiation process in August 2016," Pashinyan said.

According to him, the current leadership of Armenia, having come to power in 2018, remained the bearer of the emotional perception of the Karabakh problem, and this opinion was shared by more than 90 percent of the country’s citizens.

"When we came to power, our status as an object of propaganda changed, as we became carriers of information. And we saw that there was a huge gap between emotional perception and reality. That is, we used all the resources to bring our emotional ideas to life. And we, having come to power, had to state that the implementation of this emotional perception is impossible," the Armenian prime minister said.

Pashinyan noted that the fault of the current authorities is that they did not talk about this with the people, and even he himself could not come to terms with this pragmatic reality.

"The emotional impossibility of starting such a conversation was that it would mean telling the Republic of Armenia and its people that for 30 years we were simply wasting time, expending time and resources on a problem that was insoluble from the very beginning," he added.
