The authorities of Armenia are going to propose a draft of a new constitution, which will have regional significance, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with a group of citizens, Report informs via TASS.
"The thesis I proposed about a new constitution was widely discussed and was presented as fulfilling a demand put forward by Azerbaijan. In reality, within the 'Real Armenia' ideology, it has a different meaning, although under these conditions it is impossible to deny that the text that may exist will itself have regional significance," he noted.
Baku has repeatedly emphasized the need to amend the constitution of Armenia, as this legislative act contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
In September 2024, Pashinyan announced the possibility of changing the Armenian constitution to conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, and later he emphasized the need for a nationwide referendum to adopt this document in a new edition.
