Pashinyan: Armenia's renunciation of Soviet-era borders tantamount to renunciation of statehood

Armenia's rejection of borders that existed during the USSR means rejection of sovereignty and statehood, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page, Report informs.

"I must say directly that such an approach is very dangerous for Armenia because rejecting Soviet-era maps could mean rejecting statehood and independence, as we gained independence on the territory of Soviet Armenia and the international community recognized us as such. Loyalty to our internationally recognized territory is important for security and serves as a buffer for us," the politician wrote.

Pashinyan emphasized that if Armenian citizens themselves do not recognize the internationally recognized territory, they give others the opportunity not to recognize it.
