Pashinyan addresses peace process, regional connectivity at UNGA

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has acknowledged that "confrontational rhetoric" fueling "pessimistic sentiment" over the peace process with Azerbaijan is being used in his country.

According to Report, speaking during the General Debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, the Armenian prime minister noted that such statements are sometimes made at the official level.

In his speech, Pashinyan also addressed the issue of unblocking communications in the region, saying this should include an unhindered connection between mainland Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenia.

Speaking about restoring regional connectivity, Pashinyan also said he expected the railway connection between Türkiye and Armenia to reopen.

He also addressed Yerevan's relations with Moscow, saying they were in a "phase of transformation."

"Now that we have established peace with Azerbaijan, Armenia-Russia relations will naturally change," the Armenian prime minister said.
