Nino Tsilosani becomes new vice-speaker of Georgian parliament

A deputy from the ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party, Nino Tsilosani, has been elected at a plenary session as the new deputy chairperson of the parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, Report informs via Georgian media.

As many as 85 deputies voted in favor.

She replaced Irakli Chikovani, who was appointed Minister of Defense of Georgia on February 8, 2024, as Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

In the tenth parliament, Tsilosani served as chairperson of the committee on agrarian issues.

On February 20, the Georgian parliament prematurely terminated the parliamentary powers of the new Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani. As many as 86 parliamentarians voted for the draft resolution on the early termination of Kobakhidze’s parliamentary powers, and 78 voted for the early termination of Chikovani’s powers.
