Media: NATO contacted Russian Defense Ministry over Wagner crisis

NATO fears a nuclear incident therefore the alliance and the Russian Ministry of Defense held "informal contacts" on the situation with Wagner, Report informs via TASS.

According to the material posted on Sunday in the newspaper La Repubblica, the central topics of the talks between US President Joe Biden and the heads of leading European states and governments, which did not include Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, were precisely avoiding the risk of escalation and "preventing a nuclear incident."

According to the newspaper, NATO's attention was focused on more than 1,400 nuclear warheads ready for immediate use. According to the authors of the publication, the West wanted to immediately make it clear that its forces do not play any role in the actions to which the rebels resort.
