The presidential term in Kazakhstan was extended from 5 to 7 years, Report says with reference to Kazakh media sources.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has approved the relevant constitutional amendment.

On September 1, 2022, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed a snap presidential election this autumn. At the same time, he proposed reducing the presidency to one seven-year term from the current two five-year terms.
