Kavelashvili: 'I hope Azerbaijan, Armenia will sign peace treaty in near future'

Georgia is firmly committed to the peace-building process in the South Caucasus and is ready to deepen regional cooperation in all areas, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili said at a joint briefing with his Armenian counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan in Yerevan, Report informs.

He expressed hope that Armenia and Azerbaijan will sign a peace treaty in the near future.

"In the context of a rapidly changing geopolitical situation, the establishment of stability and peace in the region is becoming increasingly important. Georgia unequivocally welcomes the statement by Armenia and Azerbaijan on the completion of negotiations on the terms of a peace agreement on March 13, 2025. We believe that this is the beginning of an important process that requires further joint efforts to create a peaceful, secure, stable and developed region of the South Caucasus. We hope that in the near future Armenia and Azerbaijan will sign a peace agreement that will bring the dynamics of positive development in the South Caucasus and the attractiveness of the region to a qualitatively new level," Kavelashvili noted.
