The Iranian parliament has formed a separate council for culture, which will study the issue of mandatory wearing of the hijab, Report informs, citing ISNA agency.

"A working group has been organized in the Cultural Committee of the Iranian Parliament to deal specifically with issues related to appearance and the hijab," representative of the head of the Committee on Culture of the Iranian Parliament Gholamreza Montazeri said.

According to Montazeri, parliamentarians are ready to join the study of the issue and clarify "unclear or unconstructive" points.

The death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini sparked mass protests in Iran in September. The woman was detained in Tehran by the morality police for 'improper wearing of hijab.' Amini died a few days after her arrest. After that, Iranian women began to post videos on social networks in which they cut off their hair and burned the hijab. The Iranian authorities are actively suppressing anti-government protests.
