Hayastan faction ready to join impeaching Pashinyan

The opposition Hayastan parliamentary faction is ready to join the process of impeaching Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan if the initiators provide the missing votes and popular support, reads the faction's statement, Report informs via Armenian media.

Earlier, public activists Edgar Ghazaryan and Narek Malyan sent a letter to each member of the National Assembly calling for the initiation of the process of Pashinyan's resignation. It is noted that the faction has always advocated for Pashinyan's removal from the post of head of government.

"There are compelling political and legal grounds for expressing no confidence in Pashinyan through impeachment. On the other hand, the issue of impeachment in the National Assembly can be discussed if at least 36 signatures of deputies are provided. At least 54 votes are required for success - a simple majority," the statement says.

It is noted that the initiators of the process do not represent any political parties or movements and, in fact, do not bear political responsibility for the failure of the impeachment.

"The Hayastan faction unanimously confirms its readiness to provide 28 signatures (according to the number of faction members) to begin the process if the initiators can provide the missing eight signatures, and also publicly declare the ability and responsibility to provide the necessary masses of people for success," the statement says.
