The ruling party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" received unprecedented voter support in the recent parliamentary elections, and the authorities will protect this choice, preventing any encroachment on the constitutional order, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a parliament session, Report informs via Georgian media.
"Everything that happened before is repeating itself. The opposition does not accept defeat in elections and opposes the constitutional order in the country. I want to emphasize that the state stands firm, and no one will be able to undermine the constitutional order," he said.
He noted that the elections were held in a very calm atmosphere using electronic technologies, except for several polling stations where the opposition tried to destabilize the situation in a coordinated manner, but law enforcement agencies prevented this from happening. Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 26.
According to the latest data from the Central Election Commission, the ruling party Georgian Dream won with 54.08% of voter support. It is followed by four parties that crossed the five percent threshold - Coalition for Change - 10.92%, United National Movement - 10.12%, Strong Georgia - 8.72%, and For Georgia - 7.76%.
