Georgian MP: 'Some Western states grossly violate our sovereign rights'

"Despite all our efforts, some Western countries and heads of their diplomatic missions in Georgia are making rude, untrue statements full of false information and imposing sanctions against us," Georgian politician and member of parliament Irakli Kadagishvili told Report.

"All this is a gross violation of Georgia's sovereign rights. At the same time, such steps do not correspond to the norms and principles of European democracy, strategic partnership, and diplomatic etiquette. Despite all this, the Georgian government and the Georgian people decide their own fate and will decide in the elections who will be in power for the next four years," said the deputy.

According to Irakli Kadagishvili, the document only mentions great political polarization in the country.

"In my opinion, one of the main reasons for this is external interference in Georgia's internal affairs and electoral process. If there were no rude and inappropriate interventions, political polarization would not be so great," Kadagishvili emphasized.

"Now there is only one question - the free, transparent, and democratic organization of voting under normal conditions. After the elections, life will continue, and Georgia will continue its democratic development," he said.

The deputy emphasized that society has witnessed many things since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war: "Some forces want to drag Georgia into a war with Russia. But confrontation with Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible for Georgia. Georgia fully supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, but we cannot open a second front with Russia. In particular, it should be taken into account that 20 percent of Georgia's territories were occupied. Therefore, Georgia is on the path of peace and should continue to move in this direction even after the elections."

"The pre-election situation in Georgia is stable. A week ago, the OSCE observation mission, which was the main observer in the elections, presented its preliminary report. The document also states that the pre-election situation is stable. The Central Election Commission of Georgia and its regional units have properly organized their work and are fully prepared for the elections. All conditions have been created for citizens to vote freely, and the press also operates freely," Kadagishvili added.
