Tamar Taliashvili has been appointed as Georgia's new ambassador to the United States.
Report informs that the speaker of the country's parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, congratulated Tamar Taliashvili on this occasion.
Papuashvili said that the US Presidential Administration's approval of Taliashvili's candidacy creates optimism that relations between the two countries will be restored.
"First of all, I would like to congratulate Tamar Taliashvili on her appointment as Ambassador to the United States. You probably remember that she was our colleague in the parliament and worked successfully there. Before that, she worked effectively in the Sakrebulo, and then in the Council of Europe. It is very important that the US Presidential Administration approves her appointment as Ambassador," he said.
Papuashvili added that this event creates new opportunities for the development of a long-discussed strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States, based on national interests.
“We hope to rebuild this cooperation, and Tamar Taliashvili’s representation as ambassador to the United States is a very appropriate choice in this regard,” he stressed.
