French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday from Moscow, where on Monday he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed, among other things, the situation around Ukraine, Report informs, citing the Ukrainian media.

The meeting between Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will begin at 13:40 at the Mariinsky Palace. Due to COVID restrictions, up to 45 media representatives can attend the event.

This is the first official visit of a French leader to Ukraine since 1998 when Jacques Chirac visited Ukraine.

Earlier, the French leader repeatedly spoke about the need for de-escalation and a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Donbas. According to Macron, the priority for him is to find a political way out of the crisis.
